Height: 22 cm. Ø: 24 cm. Painted signature on the bottom. Origin: Netherlands, 2005s. Material: ceramic. Johan van Loon was born in Rotterdam and studied art at the Rietveld Academy from 1952 to 1956, specializing in textile design. He then went to work as a designer at Weverij De Ploeg in Bergeijk. In the early sixties he became interested in ceramics, but his experience with textiles continued to influence his work. He also went abroad to learn the tricks of the ceramist's trade. In the seventies he moved to Breda. He became a teacher of ceramics and textiles at art academies in Breda and 's-Hertogenbosch and at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. In 2016 he received the oeuvre award from the Van Achterbergh-Domhof Foundation.
