Antique writing table - sliding top - mahogany - Louis XVI

A magnificent mahogany veneered writing table, adorned with gilt bronze mounts. Its sliding top conceals compartments and a writing surface covered in green leather and gilt stringing. When raised, the green top reveals another interior surface. Gilt bronze mounts adorn all four sides of the table. The table has truncated pyramidal legs with gilt bronze finials, in the Louis XVI style, first half of the 19th century. It has a patina consistent with age and is ready to be used.
