Lit d’époque directoire. Provenance de la vente aux enchères du château de Groussay en 1999. Provenance: Château de Groussay, famous Sotheby's sale, June 1999 (Carlos de Beistegui collection). Sale receipt available. Elegant architectural model featuring a pediment top with sculpted sunburst rosette, fluted columns with urn finials and gilt highlights. Original off-white / cream lacquer with gold trim. A highly decorative piece, not a modern industrial reproduction, but a decorator's piece made for one of the most famous French fantasy chateaux. Dimensions: Fits a 120cm mattress (approx. 47" wide) - ideal as a generous single bed, daybed or small double for a guest room. Condition: Very good, solid and stable. Light age-appropriate patina, minor yellowing on headboard as shown in photos. Sold with slatted base. Ready to use. A rare size with a prestigious provenance.
