Exceptional original set of four armchairs produced by Gebrüder Thonet in Vienna in the early 20th century. Each chair retains its original Thonet paper label and factory-burned production numbering (“27”), confirming authenticity and original manufacture. The design combines classic Vienna bentwood construction with a more architectural, modern character typical of the Vienna Secession period. The chairs feature elegantly curved legs and armrests, solid wooden seats, and distinctive panel backrests with vertical pierced cut-outs, a row of circular perforations, and an integrated handhold at the top rail. Such solutions were commonly used in high-quality furniture intended for public and institutional interiors. Stylistically, the model relates closely to contemporary designs by Jacob & Josef Kohn, while the preserved labels and markings clearly identify this set as original Thonet production. Condition. Original condition with visible, honest patina consistent with age. The construction has been professionally stabilized, and the surfaces have been gently refreshed, preserving the original finish and character. The chairs are solid, stable, and fully functional.
