With a focus on geometric shapes and new materials, panton broke from the common tropes of 'danish design', gaining international success and admiration. Panton's experiments with materials, patterns, and colour resulted in aesthetic that somehow balances retro and clean contemporary at the same time. With the new wave lamp series panton built upon his portfolio of simple yet playful designs. It is easy to see influence from panton's earlier works such as the flower pot lamp and his geometric textile patters. Manufactured by the legendary glass producer, holmegaard denmark, the series used local glass blowers to bring new shapes to panton's design.
